Description
The Spartan Wrestling Camp is open to those who are in grades 2 through 8 for the 2007-2008 school year. Wrestlers will be separated according to ability. There will be a beginners (basics) group and a more advanced group. Our goal will be to teach all wrestlers basic wrestling skills and expose the more experienced to higher level techniques. Instruction will be in all areas of wrestling with emphasis on takedowns and takedown counters. Escapes, reversals, pinning combinations and leg wrestling will also be covered.

The camp will be July 9-13, 2007 from 9am-3pm.
Camp Directors: Steve Bastianelli & Jason Bastianelli
Coach Steve Bastianelli has been coaching at St Mark's for over 20 years. He was a three time Delaware state champion with an overall record of 84-0. In addition, he was a National Junior Olympic Champion, Eastern Junior Regional Champion, National Junior Age Group Champion and a four year letterman and team captain at Lehigh University. His teams at St Mark's have won 10 state championships and finished second seven other times. His teams have been ranked nationally and wrestlers on his 1998 team won a state record 8 of 13 individual weight class state championships.
Coach Jason Bastianelli, the current head coach at St Mark's, was a 1997 State Champion for the Spartans. He captained the 1997 Spartans to a national ranking of 9th by Amateur Wrestling News. Coach Bastianelli was the assistant coach at St Mark's for 5 years before taking the program over in 2003 and helping the development of four-time State Champion Andrew Donofrio as well as three-time Champions Pat Atkinson and Andrew Bradley. Coach Bastianelli has also served as the Head Coach for Team Delaware, specifically coaching the Delaware National Team in Fargo, North Dakota, and helping lead them to a 4th place finish in the 2006 Scholastic Duals which is the state's highest finish in their history in the event.
