Description

Seymour Rosenthal framed signed prints.  "The Pretzel Lady"  (actual piece not pictured)

Seymour Rosenthal was born in the Bronx in 1921. He started drawing with crayons and pencils at the age of five and continues to draw at the age of 81. Rosenthal grew up during the depression and the rise of fascism. He became aware of the injustices economically, politically and socially in his society and documented them by painting scenes of his childhood in the early 1900's. He then went on to work as a lithographer in lower Manhattan and joined the Local Amalgamated Lithographers of America. Working as a lithographer brought Rosenthal great joy, but his happiest time was when he left his lithography job and branched out on his own as a full-time artist working with pencils, oils and watercolors.
