Description

Sony Pictures Imageworks offers a current or alumni HW student the opportunity to participate in their in-house Training & Artist Development Internship program. Students enter the program with unique skills and interests, and during their time at Imageworks, the intern is exposed to the exciting daily routine of film production and development.  Imageworks is also proud to be selected each year to host the prestigious Academy of Television Arts & Sciences intern in the area of computer animation.

The internship program is an 8 week, 40 hour per week full time internship program, working in an area of interest from  June 18 - August 10, 2007.  Interns learn responsibility and work closely with staff, including producers, editors, software developers, artists, animators and production and department staff.  Students contribute to feature film production and are monitored and mentored throughtout their internship.  The intern also participates in our regular in-house training program and completes a prescribed course of study using the latest hardware and software technology including 2D and 3D animation and visual effect techniques.  Classes include production methods, studio art classes, lectures, animation and rendering, and programming.  Interns help prepare for and attend (pending parental approval) various professional industry events, including SIGGRAPH, the pretigious computer graphics conference held in San Diego this summer.

While the internship is a recognized college-level accredited program, they have experience great success with students from the high school level.  Students participating in the internship program develop organizational, artistic, and technical skills during the 8 week period and build confidence, poise, and maturity in a very short time, and also develop enduring networking and professional leadership skills.

The aspiration of the program is to motivate and inspire young people to consider a future in the film industry.
