Description

Key West and Daytona veteran singer/songwriter Rick Steffen has performed along the Florida Shoreline to his Island, Blues, & Country, fans for almost three decades.

Now, his new CD "Mango Music" takes his experience and musical style into a new genre worthy of the moniker, Caribbean Blues.
With the help of the giant talents of: Guitarist, Clarence Weares from Trinidad & Jamaica, having played on albums with Toots & Maytals, Sly & Robbie, Sparrow, Dennis Brown and Windjammer from world famous Ocean Deck fame @ Daytona Beach, and Drummer, & 14 year partner Steve (Mudlips) Mello, also of Windjammer/Ocean Deck fame, & the recorded hits "Smoke 2 Joints"(copied by Sublime), also plays the organ, melodica (hooter), and lead vocals.

Mark Hodgson - Career Blues/Harmonica man/ songwriter/singer with 6 Blues music CDs of his own, adds his magic for a perfect compliment to the Caribbean Blues genre. Steel drummers Kelvin Hart and Joe Isadore from Trinidad round out the sound on this unique project with tasty signature licks.

This arsenal of seasoned players takes the songwriting, Caribbean Blues, and Rick's vocals to a special level and feeling.
This is the latest CD of 4 releases.(2005)

CARIBBEAN BLUES - Samba rhythms with Blues lyrics. The only way you can have the blues in the islands is to lose your boat or your woman or run out of rum.

WATERING HOLE - The point of common ground for the working class or the executives. This song underlines that FUN & social comradere should always be included in our priorities.

GOOD LUCK - Some of the most rewarding relationships are the ones we have with mentoring. A nostalgic look at beachcombing days with Rick's Uncle and
mentor.

FLOWERS - Yes ! It's a revisit of the Pete Seeger and Peter Paul & Mary anti-war song, "Where Have All the Flowers Gone" - Self explanatory ... but will they get it?

WEEKENDS IN DE ISLANDS - Most everyone thinks of this great escape at least once a day...... Here's some help. May emerge with Christmas lyrics as "Xmas In the Islands".

VOTESONG - The Political climate in the country has gone way out of kilter and divided the nation like never before. Even Viet Nam had better statistics and acceptance. Here is Rick's encouragement to get people to vote and get the country back into unity.

SPEND SOME TIME WITH YOU - A Kenny Rogers style love song that laments the pressures in society and business while Love and other virtues get overlooked.

ONE WAVE AT A TIME - A Caribbean Blues style sailing song about a loner and his sailboat. Philosophical and empathetic with that feeling we all get when we feel alone. Pirates unite!!

WASTIN' MY TIME - More soul searching philosophy that seeks to find real values for life

THE GREAT DIVIDE - Marvelous anticipated acceptance encouraged.

INTERNET OVERLOAD - A fun double entendre song where computer terms weave through a story line about the bayou life of a Cajun and the attitude he would have if forced to "do" Internet communication.

GIVE ‘TIL IT HURTS - An uplifting soul statement that focuses on the very real process of initiation bringing about positive breathtaking personal life changes.
