Description
This rare piece of fine art by nationally recognized artist, James Rothrock, is an Untitled abstraction, c. 1993, watercolor on paper, sheet size 29 1/2" high x 20 3/4" wide; framed size 38" high x 29" wide.
Rothrock is nationally known for his organically shaped, refined ceramic vessels in slip cast porcelain. His ceramic pieces are in private and public art collections, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution. This atmospheric abstract watercolor is an expansion of the type of decorative image typically created in colored oxides, on the soft white porcelain surface of his pots.
This rare watercolor is one of a series of only ten such works on paper made by the artist in the early 1990s.
Note: Although the image displayed here shows this piece unframed, it is being offered framed.
