Description

This lovely gourd depicts a windswept cypress, painted with dimensional acrylics, and is embellished with woven pine needles at the collar opening.  This canteen gourd is approximately 7" wide x 5" high, dyed in a caramel color with a field of teal surrounding the tree.  The techniques and materials Karen used to create this gourd are leather dye, acrylic paint, woodburning and woven Torrey Pines needles.

Karen Saviskas has been creating gourd art since 1991, and has been featured in galleries throughout the United State. One of her gourd ornaments was chosen to decorate the 1994 White House Christmas tree, and is now part of a permanent collection in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
