Description
Print is applied to a piece of cardboard. The scene shows five men dressed in hunting garb being served breakfast by two servants. It was printed in black, white, red, brown, and blue. One of the men in the scene is wearing a graduation cap on his head. This man seems to be lecturing the other men in the room; two seem intrigued, while two are giving looks of boredom. J. Ryman was known for publishing many prints of boat races, and the sporting theme is apparent in this print. He was a print seller, and worked on High Street in Oxford. He started the shop in 1823, listed himself as a carver, gilder, and picture framer, but later became a successful dealer and publisher.
