Description
Toy Land was written by Kate Greenaway in 1882. It is a first edition, and the back cover of the book has advertisements for “R. Worthington’s New Juveniles for the Season of 1883-4.” Kate Greenaway was born in 1846 in North London. Her father was a master engraver, and her mother was a seamstress. Kate printed her first book in 1867, with the help of her father. She started doing greeting cards, calendars, and book illustrations. Her work was influenced by Randolph Caldecott, another book illustrator of the time. Her books were popular in both England and America, and soon her work started appearing not only in reproductions, but also in wallpaper, plates, scarves, and dolls. In the book Toy Land, there are numerous black and white drawings and illustrations featured. The book is in fair condition.
