Professor Hoener has been teaching at New Paltz since 1993, and has worked as a professional designer since 1982. His research and professional work is centers on digital typography, type design, signage, and inscriptional lettering. He received his MFA in Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1993. Hoener also taught Design classes at Rhode Island School of Design, and at the University of Connecticut at Storrs.
