Katy Schneider is a painter who works predominantly in oils. She has won many awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2004. She teaches at Smith College, exhibits her work widely and lives with her husband, artist David Gloman, and her three children in Northampton, MA.

Schneider is fascinated with interiors and the exploration of family relationships through both still life and portraiture. She creates a strong sense of light and a clear sense of space in her depictions.

Schneider has collaborated with children's author Patricia MacLachlan and Patricia's daughter Emily MacLachlan Charest as an illustrator.
