Peter Barnett's specialties are landscape and portraiture. He works primarily from life and works quickly, in sessions of about an hour, trying to capture the immediacy and truth of a given moment in light and color. Barnett was raised in Williamstown, MA and Rome, Italy. Son of a Williams College professor, he graduated from Amherst College and earned a Ph.D. in art history at Harvard. He taught at Clark University and Earlham College. Barnett retired in 2000 and now is a full-time artist with The Artisans at the Indian Orchard Mills, Indian Orchard MA.
