Description

Lunch at the home and studio of East Longmeadow artist, Doug Brega. Be one of three lucky high bidders and share a meal that will be scheduled at an agreed date and time in 2007! The group will sit and enjoy a lunch and conversation with Doug Brega in the comfort of his home followed by a tour of his studio. The lucky high bidders will also have the opportunity to select one of Brega's unframed open edition prints which he will personalize and sign.

Brega paintings are a tribute to the landscapes of New England and the tradition of American Realism. Described as “sensitive”, “richly detailed” and “insightful”, Brega’s subjects are familiar and well-loved, yet rendered with a flawless technique and imbued by the artist with a simple grandeur that transcends the objective reality of the world he paints. “What I strive for,” says Brega, “is a precise and honest interpretation, not a mirror of reality or a personal comment on the subject.”

East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, is Brega's hometown. He attended Paier College in New Haven, CT where he studied under the noted trompe l’oile artist, Ken Davies. After spending a year on Martha’s Vineyard, Brega returned to East Longmeadow, where he now maintains his home and studio.

Brega has achieved national recognition for his paintings. His work has been featured in American Artist and has graced two covers of Yankee magazine. Two of Brega’s paintings were recently hung in prestigious museums, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art and Design in Kansas City, Missouri and the permanent collection of the Albrecht-Kemper Museum in St. Joseph, Missouri.
