Spend the day at Dog Bar and help with the kiln firing!

These items of wood-fired pottery are donated by Dog Bar Pottery of Westhampton. At Dog Bar Pottery, studio potter Sam Taylor makes hand-made, one-of-a-kind stoneware and porcelain in a kiln based on a traditional Japanese catenary arch climbing kiln. The pots are wheel-thrown, wood-fired and salt-glazed for finishes that are durable, long lasting and dishwasher safe.

This functional pottery is made from stoneware and porcelain clay, and the wood and salt combined with the fire leave the pottery with distinctive characteristics, warm variegated colors, rich textures and stunning highlights.

Included in the bid is a chance to attend a kiln firing at the artist's Westhampton studio. You'll take part in an exhilarating experience as the kiln comes alive and the temperature reaches 2300 degrees during the 24-hour process. Sometimes a flame as long as 40 feet flows through the kiln like a river overflowing its banks.

Visit Dog Bar during the firing and throw your own pottery piece with guidance from potter Taylor.

This is a Live Event Item.
