Description

Barolo, from the Piedmont region in Northwestern Italy, has been called the "king of wines and the wine of kings." This lot includes four bottles from one of the outstanding to classic vintages of the late 1990s. It is ready to drink now, but may be cellared for 10 or more years. The four wines (750 ml) are: Icardi, Parej Enrico Pira e Figli, Cannubi (WS 92: "Lots of spices, tea and roasted coffee character. Medium-bodied, with firm tannins and a crisp finish. Turns to truffles.") Franco M. Martinetti, Marasco (WS 91: "Refined aromas of incense, berries and flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a silky finish. A beauty.") Conterno Fantino, Vigna del Gris (WS 90: "Plums and vanilla on the nose. Medium-bodied, with firm tannins.")
