Description
Two Tickets to Hungry for the Blues at Symphony Space, a Holiday Bluesfest this Friday, December 15 at 8 p.m. Stars include Popa Chubba and Irving Louis Lattin:
Popa Chubby spearheaded a subgenre of the blues during the 1990s while his band was the house band at Manny's Carwash. The New York sound is as complex as the city itself, melding a variety of street sounds from hip hop, punk, straight-up rock, R&B, into an unadulterated blues format.
Irving Louis Lattin will play the opening set. Originally from Chicago, Lattin was inspired by the blues, funk, R&B and Rock of his era,. He has played with Otis Rush, Little Buster, Holmes Brothers and many more, and is now one of the most prominent blues talents in New York and beyond. He has released two CDs, I’d Rather be Close to You, and most recently, Chicago Fire.
