Use the Catalyst for accelerated trips to the backcountry, day-tripping on the trail or as a minimalist overnighter. It's made from differential-cut double-woven ShiftLayer nylon (see sidebar), and features front-panel loading for fast access to gear. An outside, center-zip vertical storage pocket holds gloves and lunch. The Autofit harness allows quick adjustments to the 3-D spacer-mesh shoulder straps. A split waistbelt stabilizes the load over the lower back and hips. Other details include: a slider-adjusting sternum strap with a built-in safety whistle; a hydration pocket with hidden tunnels to keep tubes out of the way; compression straps to stabilize the hydration bladder; and side-mounted stretch-mesh pockets for water bottles.
