Description
We may live in a blue state but we can "do-si-do" with the best of them. Retrieve your gingham dresses or checked shirts from the back of your closet and join the fun. Stick a piece of straw between your teeth, grab your pardner, sashay to the left and take a bow. It is time to square dance!! Sixteen foot-stomping dancers will gather for this barn-shaking hoedown hosted by the Brahm family, Renee Otero and her husband Troy Caldwell and SF's own "pass the cooking sherry and put out the fire" kitchen divas, the Spicy Mamas. By day, the Spicy Mamas are a group of innocuous car-pooling soccer moms but when they hear the siren call of the fiddle, they are transformed.
After last year's successful Hawaiian Luau & Hula-Dancing Party, it's time to head back to arguably the best party house west of Twin Peaks as the Brahm's glorious backyard is transformed to feature its very own square dancing pad. Don't worry about your inability to follow simple directions-instruction will be given. Don't worry about your neighbors finding out that you attended a square dance-confidentiality forms will be signed at the door. In fact, don't worry about anything. This is a time for Happy Feet. After you work up a healthy appetite, then it's time for Happy Eat as you and your guests will be rewarded with a delicious lip-smacking western barbeque, including juicy cowboy steaks from Estancia Beef (straight from the pampas courtesy of CSB's own gauchos JP and Leslie Thieriot). The Spicy Mamas will help you carry your plate(s) and hose you off afterwards if necessary.
The dates for this thigh-slapping, barn-burner of a fandango are open but the best outdoor weather is before the Brahm home brings in the harvest on Mt. Davidson during the summer or early autumn.
