Description
The historic Museum of Science in Industry is home to the U-505 German submarine--on display since 1954. This is the only remaining submarine of its type and a National Historic Landmark. An underground, climate-controlled exhibit includes veteran testimonials, interactive replicas and re-enactments and onboard tours available for $5. Other favorite exhibits include the Coal Mine, which seems to go hundreds of feet down to demonstrate (in a 25-minute tour) how miners work. Colleen Moore's Fairy Castle doll house, one of the world's most famous miniature masterpieces, has also fascinated children and adults for generations.
CURRENTLY the museums controversial & fascinating exhibit is BODY WORLDS 2. This amazing exhibit will allow you to explore the anatomy of the human body as never seen before.
After an amazing journey through the Museum you can enjoy dinner for 2 at the Calypso Cafe. The cafe's cross-cultural mix of Caribbean cuisines, provides an affordable escape to the islands. The menu lists jerk chicken and island-style pasta with shrimp, among other dishes. Try the Ropa Vieja--a shredded beef sandwich on fresh-baked Cuban bread. Desserts include Pineapple Jump-up cake and keylime pie.
