Description
Founded in 1958 by Alvin Ailey and a troupe of young African-American dancers, The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has grown and has earned a reputation as one of the most acclaimed international ambassadors of American culture by promoting preservation of the American modern dance and showcasing the uniqueness of the African-American cultural experience. See them perform on their North American tour when they perform at NJPAC on May 4th! Performances include programs from Twyla Tharp and Uri Sands include pieces set to the music David Byrne and Duke Ellington, plus Revelations, set to traditional spirituals. By fusing modern dance, classical ballet and jazz, the group puts on a performance that is quintessential "Ailey!"
