Description

Harlan Estate Napa Valley Red Wine 1998 is a candidate for the "Wine of the Vintage". It was produced from yields of 0.9 tons per acre. There are only 1,100 cases, and it is the first Harlan Estate to be composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. A spectacular achievement, it boasts an opaque plum/purple color as well as a sumptuous nose of espresso, mineral, blueberry, blackberry, tobacco, and licorice. Asian spice, and roasted meat smells. In the mouth, it is seamless, full-bodied, with an unctuous texture, gorgeously sweet tannin, and layer upon layer of concentration. This is a tour de force in winemaking. It is hard to believe that a wine such as this has emerged from 1998. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2030. -Robert Parker -

The Wine Advocate Turley White Rhone blend 2004 is made from marsanne and viognier, is as rare as a white truffle or a white San Francisco Christmas. If you are lucky enough to procure a bottle of this tiny production cult wine, serve it on its own so its fat, glycerol-laden body and honeyed richness can be appreciated without distraction.

Kistler Dark Red 2002 has highly expressive aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and raspberry accented by cinnamon and white pepper. Impressively pure and energetic, with vibrant red and dark berry flavors, subtle minerality and a fine-grained, silky texture. Finishes with excellent energy and a late note of floral pastille.
