Description

This is a wonderful piece for collectors! This sterling silver marrow scoop dates to 1731 and has the French Huguenot Paul Hanet's markings.

French Huguenots fled France in the late 17th century and emigrated to England where they quickly became leaders in their fields. The influence of Huguenot silversmiths and native English craftsmen was a catalyst for innovations in style and technical change during this important period in the history of the British empire and the production of silver.

From the survival of pieces bearing his mark, Hanet was clearly one of the principal Huguenot spoonmakers of his day.

Display this lovely spoon at home or use it as a cocktail stirrer.
