Description

"The Park II" was painted in Paris during the 11 years Paul Harmon had a home and a studio in the heart of that city. Chairs have long been one of the artist's leitmotif, these being cast iron Paris park chairs. These chairs take on a sculptural essence standing as they are on wet paving stones in a Left Bank park.

Paul Harmon remarked that ..."the ginkgo leaf pattern designs of the paving, so common on the streets and in the parks in France, have long been a great attraction for me. One of my favorite photographs is of the setting of paving stones taken by Jean-Louis Bloch-Laine. We collaborated on a small book on Paris through the ages titled Dante's Stones and used his paving stone photograph for the cover."

Paul Harmon is an internationally exhibited artist who for 11 years divided his time between Paris and Tennessee. His work is well represented in numerous galleries, museums, major corporate and private collections in Europe, Asia and the United States. He has been the recipient of many major international awards including the Prix de la Ville de Monaco and the Prix de la Societe E.J.A. at the XXIV Prix International D'Art Contemporain de Monte Carlo. His "Walking Man" was chosen by HSH Princess Caroline for her private collection.
