EDITOR FOR A DAY

Spend a day shadowing Rex Smith, editor and vice president of the Times Union -- and participate in the editorial decision-making. First, meet Rex at the WAMC studios for taping of "The Media Project," the nationally-syndicated public radio program. Then join him at the Times Union for a conversation with the editorial board on the next day's opinion pages. That's followed by whatever else the day's schedule presents (yes, Hearst Corp. will buy you lunch), culminating with the 3:30 p.m. "news budget" meeting at which you'll participate as the next day's paper is laid out.
