"Pachanga En El Camino"

From the St Cloud Times:

The Stearns County Pachanga Society will release its sophomore album "Pachanga En El Camino" (translation: "Party in the Road") April 14 with two performances, including an afternoon kid-friendly performance, at the Pioneer Place on Fifth.

"All the songs, except for maybe one, have to do with life in the street — stuff going on in the street — that's where a lot of life goes on in the Spanish-speaking world," said Mike Hasbrouck, band founder, about the new album.

"Pachanga" in English means "party," but not just any party — it's a public party, often rowdy, with many participants. Since 2002, the Stearns County Pachanga Society has shared that translation by example with concerts that often blur the line between where the stage ends and the audience begins.

The Stearns County Pachanga Society is an ever-evolving, ever-growing organic musical experiment that aims to combine the participatory musical spirit of Cuban Cabildos, Brazilian Samba clubs, and Spanish Charangas with danceable rhythms from all over the globe and a certain psychedelic rock-n-roll ethos.
