Description
Antique sword with an inscription in the Farsi language on one side of the recasso(part of the sword where the handle meets the sharp edge of the blade).
On the other side of the recasso the mark of the maker is ground off as was custom.
During the reign of specific rulers, if someone was killed by a sword, the sword maker was put to death.
The grinding of the mark meant the maker could not be identified.
