Drastic Measures, a CD by bassist Michael Manring

Item Number: 236
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
Released in 1991 on the Windham Hill record label, this is bassist Michael Manring's third solo recording. The winning bidder will receive a shrink-wrapped copy of an out-of-print and rare recording. It was produced by Steve Rodby of the Pat Metheny Group and includes solo bass pieces and ensemble music featuring Paul McCandless (Paul Winter Consort, Bela Fleck), Cliff Carter (James Taylor) and Mark Walker (Paquito D'Rivera). Editorial Review: “Manring takes drastic measures in his continuing crusade to push the bass out of the rhythm section and into the spotlight. Lyrical solos, bass overdubs, some virtuosic arpeggios, and breathless passage work illuminate ensemble-oriented originals as well as updated versions of Jimi Hendrix's ‘Purple Haze’ and Chick Corea's ‘500 Miles High.’” - Linda Kohanov, All Music Guide
