The winning bidder will receive an hour-long bass guitar lesson with Grammy nominated bassist Michael Manring. This lesson is open to students of any age or skill level. Michael has taught bass guitar for over 20 years and has expertise in many areas of music, so he will be happy to work with the student in whatever subjects are of interest. Michael's specialty is experimental and solo bass
work, but he is also well-versed in more conventional styles.
In addition to being a GLMS dad, Michael Manring is a bassist and composer known for his innovative approach to the instrument and his adventurous solo concerts. A Windham Hill recording artist, he has appeared on over 200 recordings and toured throughout the world. He has received Grammy and Bammie nominations, the Berklee School of Music Distinguished Alumni Award, two Gold Records, two Just Plain Folks awards and the Bassist of the Year award from the readers of Bass Player Magazine. He is also a key member of Windam Hill's all-star band, Montreux.
Special Instructions
Lesson to be conducted at Michael's studio in Oakland. Student should bring a bass guitar and any materials he or she would like to discuss, but it's not necessary to bring an amplifier as there are several available at the studio.
