The image was inspired when the artist was asked to design an invitation to a lecture by an author whose parents had faced great hardship in traveling by sea from Europe to America to escape the Nazis during WWII. In this context, their world was rescued and they were saved. The photograph is a digital archival print, is matted, and measures 20 x 16 inches. David Perlman has enjoyed a rich life following many pursuits including: a career as an electrical engineer; founding two companies; teaching at RIT; and founding the Performing Artists Concert Series at RIT, among others.
