Hannah's Crafts and Gifts, on Arnett Blvd. in Rochester, offers a wall hanging titled, "Adire Cloth." This exquisite piece is indigo dyed and features intricate designs of fish bone patterns. Adire is the name given to the indigo dyed cloth produced by Yoruba women of South Western Nigeria. This particular piece of Adire cloth was first treated in casava starch paste. Before drying, intricate designs of fish bone patterns were hand stitched with needle and thread to act as resist. The material was then soaked in indigo dye for a couple of days to produce the design that is seen. Enjoy it as a wall hanging, a chair cover, or a blanket. It is made of 100% cotton and measures 106" wide x 61" long.
