Once again, WXXI enthusiastically welcomes Jim Christy on board as a featured artist for its annual Auction! Jim has an abiding interest in both historic and present day scenes around his hometown. Both are evident in this print ( #29 of 200) of his painting entitled "There's Something Going On At the Eastman!" Jim has captured in watercolor and gouache paints a street scene at the corner of Main and Gibbs that he fondly refers to as "the very Center of our Cultural District." On this rainy spring evening the street is alive with music students and theatre-goers. Jim says that the wonderful light which has illuminated the Eastman Theatre's entrances for well over 80 years was the inspiration for this painting. The artist maintains a studio at his home where he paints for galleries in Rochester as well as in Florida and accepts commissions. This is the 3rd year Jim has contributed a featured painting to the Auction. The print which measures approximately 22" x 26" is signed and dated.
