Description

The creator of this piece combined a lithograph of an 1881 painting, Un Coup de Main (The Helping Hand) by French artist Emile Renouf, with a poem by American poet Vera Hardman titled "Seaside Thoughts."

The image of a child pulling on a massive oar with the "help" of the fisherman (her grandfather?) is a perfect companion to Hardman's poem about the sea as a metaphor for friendship.

This piece features a double-cut mat, glass and frame, and was assembled by Frame Gallery and Gifts in Cape Coral, Florida.
