Description

This piece, titled "Transfiguration", was created by artist Hakim Alsadi. An etching is mounted on paper that is embossed with the same image, only rotated. This very dynamic piece is cleverly matted to highlight both the etching and the embossment. Measures 21 1/4 x 30 1/4 inches.

This is a Live Event Item.

Special Instructions

Hakim Alsadi is an Iraqi artist who lives in Madrid. He graduated from Baghdad University, specializing in etching. Etching is the process of using strong acid to cut into the unprotected parts of a metal surface to create a design in intaglio in the metal. The plate is inked all over, and then the ink is wiped off the surface, leaving ink only in the etched lines. The plate is then put through a high-pressure printing press together with a sheet of paper. The paper picks up the ink from the etched lines, making a print. The process can be done without the use of ink, which creates an embossment.
