Description

This oil on canvas is by artist Hyppolite Felizor. It is a lively representation of daily life in Haiti, with its multi-hued cottages and exotic flora. Haitian art often seeks to convey the story of life in its small villages. This deceptively simple piece has a wealth of fine detail that can be seen on close inspection.

This is a Live Event Item.

Special Instructions

Measures 17 x 12 1/2 inches. Hyppolite Felizor, born in Cap Haitien, continues the tradition of history paintings, but also has a great interest in still life of the fruits and vegetables of the region. Other artists have come to study with him to acquire his precise technique and use of high color. His works have been shown in Haiti, the United States, Canada, and France, and are in collections in each of those countries.
