This print from the original oil painting entitled "The Last Canonment" by John Gould shows General Washington at Temple Hill, New Windsor, NY, in the winter of 1783. In 1983, President Ronald Reagan was presented with a lithograph of this painting in a White House Ceremony. This Giclee print measures approximately 21 x 16 and is double-matted and framed with a lovely gold traditional frame.
Special Instructions
John Gould had a long career in art, both as artist and art instructor. He was also well-known as a lecturer on art, particularly oriental painting. In 1957, he established the Bethlehem Art Gallery and Art School located near Newburgh N.Y. He was born in Worcester, Mass., studied art at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, and later instructed in Pratt for 22 years. He was a prominent illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post for more than eight years and an illustrator for many national corporations.
