This allegorical scene of a little farm boy holding the baby lamb and showing it to George Washington contains a deep meaning. Peace has been achieved and a nation is born. This Giclee print from the original oil painting entitled "A Nation Is Born" by John Gould, measures approximately 21 x 16 inches, and is double matted and framed with a lovely gold traditional frame.

Special Instructions

John Gould had a long career in art, both as artist and art instructor. He was also well-known as a lecturer on art, particularly oriental painting. In 1957, he established the Bethlehem Art Gallery and Art School located near Newburgh N.Y. He was born in Worcester, Mass., studied art at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, and later instructed in Pratt for 22 years. He was a prominent illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post for more than eight years and an illustrator for many national corporations.
