Description
This adorable teapot was created by artist Gary Rith. It was first thrown on a wheel, then the artist carved details into the body of the pot. A unique base and lid were added as well as a handle and spout. It has a celadon glaze and is adorned with a charming periwinkle-glazed elephant. It is not only cute, but useful too.
Special Instructions
Measures 8 1/2 x 7 1/2 x 5 inches. Gary Rith's artwork can be found at Spirit and Kitsch in Ithaca, N.Y. He creates charming pottery adorned with fun. Pieces, such as this teapot, were started by the basic form being thrown on a potter's wheel. Once the clay dries slightly so that the form won't change when handled, details can be carved into the clay and adornments attached. When it is completely dry, the creation is fired. Once cool, the piece is coated with glaze, allowed to dry, and fired again. The result is a beautiful, functional work of art.
