Description

This suede cocktail hat, titled "Cocktails at 6", was created by artist Corinne Stern. Also called a "fascinator", it is adorned with vintage feathers, circa 1940, beads, yarn, and textiles. This Gippot ["Gee-pote"] Headcovering is as much at home as wall décor or on a pedestal in your living room as it is when worn for a special occasion. A box frame displays this piece handsomely.

This is a Live Event Item.

Special Instructions

The hat is approximately 6 inches in diameter, displayed in a 10 x 10 inch box frame. Originally and mainly conceived as Yarmulkes for Jewish women, Gippot Headcoverings have as many applications as you have imagination. Some are reminiscent of Renaissance hats, some of saucy 1930s cocktail hats, some of theatrical costume hats. As a self-taught artist, Corinne takes her place among other outstanding Outsider Artists creating wearable sculpture. She has been a member of Spirit and Kitsch Gallery ("The Art Garage") in Ithaca, NY, since April 2006.
