Description
This opulent necklace is composed of lamp worked glass beads and Thai silver. Dejardin's work is influenced by her love of art history, the history of design, and the decorative arts. This is reflected in her use of color and texture. This necklace exudes a very exotic feeling; the artist uses colors reminiscent of spices and warm earth. The intricate designs of the beads are reflective of Indian and African textiles.
Special Instructions
Necklace is 16 inches long. At her studio, "Fleur de Jardin", artist Fiona Dejardin creates her own glass beads. She melts rods of colored glass and, when in a molten state, applies them to mandrels in layers of color to create patterns and textures. A large, complicated bead can take up to an hour to make. Each bead is completely unique. Dejardin incorporates these beads into her jewelry designs and combines them with semi-precious stones, seed beads, and silver.
