Description

Artist Laurel Hecht is known for her up-close images of fruits and flowers, and this bright, bold piece is a perfect example. Titled "Orange Pear with Grapes", this is a one-of-a-kind monotype. The whimsical pear almost takes on the form of a woman and is surrounded by grapes that appear to be dancing and lending joy and fun to this piece. The Frame Shop, in Ithaca, used a wide white mat and black wood frame to beautifully complement this picture.

This is a Live Event Item.

Special Instructions

In the process of making a monotype, Ms. Hecht paints oil ink onto a Plexiglas plate. The plate is then put face-down onto a piece of paper and run through an etching press. The pressure of the press transfers the image to the paper. The plate is slowly pulled off the paper and the image begins to emerge. She repeats the process over and over, painting layers onto the same plate. This gives the final color print both richness and depth.
