Artist Name: Lucy Arnold

Artist Statement: "Striking a Balance". Since a bowling pin is meant to be struck, and is part of many strikes, I wanted to portray a "striking energy". I also intended to honor and emphasize the graceful shape of the pin itself as a 3 dimensional object. I sought to achieve these goals by the use color. In order to "strike a balance", I used both hot and cool colors in equal amounts. This pin is divided into 4 sections; each section is an inverse of its opposite side. Thus each section is different but balanced with all the colors, it is also used to define the sections within shapes that echo the pin's shape.
