Description
Somi Verdery is a small village house located in the beautiful village of Cereste, Provence. Known as one of the best-kept secrets in the Lower Alps, Cereste is a quiet little town with a lovely mix of Roman and medieval buildings, traditional French bakeries and shops, and delightful cafes. Céreste is actually at the crossroads of the two Provences. To the west is the Luberon and its famous villages – Gordes, Bonnieux, Lacoste and Roussillon, among many others – the vineyards towards the Rhône and côtes du Ventoux, and also worth mentioning are the antiques market of l’Isle sur la Sorgue, which is just moments away.
To the east you will discover a more rural atmosphere with the Alps being within reach. Here, you will find the wide open spaces of the Valensole plateau, where the best lavender is produced, or the world famous Verdon canyon, together with the farmers’ markets of Forcalquier and Apt, as well as some of the secluded and unspoiled villages of Haute Provence (Banon, Viens, Saignon).
The region is known also for its wide range of possibilities for trekking, horseriding and cycling, with Céreste being one of the stops on those circuits.
Le Somi is a two bedroom house that sleeps four - perfect for either two couples or a family of four. It has a fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher, and a washing machine. It is located at the heart of the old village, on a tiny street populated by both native villagers and British expatriats.
Cereste is about an hour and twenty minutes north of Marseilles, where there is an airport, and almost equidistant between Forcalquier and Apt.

Winning bidder should contact owner to arrange for a mutually agreeable week. The house may be reserved in either 2007 or 2008; availability is currently limited in summer 2007.
