A monotype is a unique process in which the artist uses a unique combination of painting and printmaking techniques to achieve effects not possible in other art forms. The image is painted on a plate of metal or plexiglass with oil based inks, then transferred to a high quality rag paper by means of a press. Thus a monotype print is not a reproduction but a one of a kind original work conceived and created by the artist.
