Description

Confetti Buffalo in luster on porcelain Artist: Karen Grubaugh of Art on Porcelain Since its creation in 9th century Baghdad, the art of luster was a closely guarded secret. Not until the 18th century was the formula discovered by Meissen artists. Treasured above all art mediums by the Crown Heads of Europe as few as six pieces out of every 100 created would be considered acceptable. Few artisans mastered the difficult medium then and there are still only a few luster artists world wide. This hand painted framed piece, Confetti Buffalo, is presented on a porcelain tile. The eye is jeweled and the horn textured gold.
