Description
Every time Derek Jeter came to bat with the bases loaded, whichever television network was carrying that day's game would inevitably display his current number of at-bats with the bases loaded without hitting a home run. It seemed they did that for two or three seasons. Finally, on Saturday, June 18, 2005, in the 155th-plate appearance of his career with the bases juiced, Jeter rocked his first career grand slam over the left center field wall at Yankee Stadium. Jeter's sixth-inning slam was his first homer in 136 at bats and it ended his drought of 5,770 career at-bats without a grand slam. "You have to just push him out there to take a bow," said Yankees manager Joe Torre, referring to the curtain call Jeter finally took in the Yankees 8-1 victory. Two innings later, Jeter added an exclamation point with a solo home run to lead off the eighth inning. Derek Jeter has hand signed this framed 8x10 photograph of his first career grand slam, which comes complete with a Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity. This item is a limited edition of 500.
