About the Artist:
Hasaan holds an M.F.A. and id an Associate Professor at Johnson C. Smith University in North Carolina. In his work, Kirkland uses a pallet knife, impasto, geometric shapes, and the orthodox rectangular shape to formulate a statement of his effort to remain in a founded system of sorts but conscience of contemporary art, culture, and a willingness to experiment with his own creativity and reality. “I have found the image and cultural meaning of the mask suitable for experimentation as I search for a format to mirror the new dimensions of my career, craft, and personal development.”Special Instructions
