About the Artist:

Marvette Pratt Aldrich has served as Assistant Profess of Art at Winston-Salem State University where she taught painting, drawing, color and design as well as introduction to art courses. Her education credentials includes a B.A. in  Art Education  from North Carolina Central University., and M.A. in Educational Media and a M.F.A. in Studio Art with a concentration in Painting and Drawing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her Wedding Dress painting, taken from a picture of her grandmothers’ wedding dress,  was created through a process called Chin Cole and represents a symbol for the beginning of a family.
