| Sony’s GRAN TURISMO racing series is one of the leaders of racing games, and GRAN TURISMO 4 continues this tradition. Featuring very realistic graphics and controls, players can get behind the wheel of a variety of cars from different times and countries, including everything from the Model T to Korean, German, and Dutch vehicles. Of course, players will need some place to race the plethora of available cars, so GRAN TURISMO 4 provides over 50 courses ranging from Fuji Speedway and New York to Trial Mountain and El Capitan. The main mode of play is Gran Turismo mode. Here, players compete in tournament races against a number of opponents. Wins here equal more cars, more upgrades, and more money. While there are a number of different difficulty levels for racers, the more difficult require license ratings. Players can increase their ratings by passing a number of challenges or, for players who still have their file saves from GRAN TURISMO 3, by importing previously achieved licenses. In the garage, players can customize everything from shocks and lights to color and hood ornaments. The sorting menus have been updated for easy sorting, letting players order their cars by country of origin, power, manufacturer, and other categories at the touch of a button. Racing fans who have already experienced what the GRAN TURISMO series brings to the PS2 know they don’t want to miss this game. For racers who haven’t tried Sony’s racing license, GRAN TURISMO 4 is the perfect place to begin. | |
