Behind the Scenes Tour at the MFA

Item Number: 137
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
You and up to three guests will tour the MFA's European galleries with Victoria Reed, Research Fellow for Provenance at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and expert on art loss during the Holocaust.
The provenance - or history of ownership - of works of art is an important topic in the media these days. We often hear about the high-profile news stories, but not the work that goes on behind the scenes. Ms. Reed has been working for more than five years in the field of Nazi-era provenance research. Using case studies from her own work, she will address the process of conducting provenance research, the art world under the Third Reich, and the role of museums as keepers of works of art that may be claimed by others.
