Robin Bergman's Biography
Robin Bergman uses luxury yarns and natural fibers to create hand-loomed knitted clothing and accessories. Bergman finds the making of knitted pieces particularly challenging because the fabric, patterning and shaped garment pieces are created simultaneously. All of her designs and fabrics are original, their features often inspired by ethnic clothing, costumes and antique garments. In 1980 Robin received an MFA in painting from MICA's Hoffberger School of Painting and worked as a textile conservator at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston for four years. She has won a series of awards - from Niche Magazine for craft excellence, the Clothing the Muse award from the Seattle Weavers' Guild, and recognition from the Arlington, Massachusetts Arts Council. She has recently been featured in Fiber Arts Magazine (Jan./ Feb. 2005), Niche Magazine (Autumn 2004), Ornament Magazine (Summer 2004) as well as Fiberarts Design Books VI and The Art of Beadwork. Her studio and home are in Massachusetts
