Linda DePalma Biography
Linda DePalma is a well-known artist who has been awarded several public art commissions in Baltimore and the surrounding region. Site-specific projects range from Passage, a sculptural entrance at Jessup Blair Park, Silver Spring, MD to Baltimore City's Redwood Arch, a collaboration between landscape architect and artist. She has received numerous honors for her sculpture, among them an NEA Fellowship Grant and a Mid-Atlantic Arts Consortium Grant. Ms. DePalma's work has been exhibited in various venues regionally such as The Baltimore Museum of Art, Hand Workshop in Richmond, VA, and Franz Bader Gallery in Washington DC. She has created temporary outdoor installations at the Maryland Historical Society and Staten Island's Snug Harbor Cultural Center. Ms. DePalma has a deep commitment to education. She has been visiting lecturer and workshop leader in many colleges and universities, including MICA. Presently she is Education Director for the Creative Alliance and coordinates book-based visual arts after school programs for city youth. Community and arts organizations have been an ongoing interest and include participation on boards and panels of Pyramid Atlantic, Sculptors Incorporated, Mount Royal Improvement Association, and Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission. Ms. DePalma received her BA at Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY and her MFA from the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore, MD.
